Target Group Generation 

Purpose

This process is used to generate a target group. A target group is used for mass generation of activities, opportunities, direct mail, and e-mail as part of your campaign or trade promotion, or during the creation of activity journals. Process Flow

       1.      Create a selection header

A selection header contains details such as the name, the type, and the person responsible for a selection. A selection header is used to generate a target group.

You can create:

¡        An independent selection header

The selection header that you create using this component is independent of any campaign, trade promotion, or activity journal. Therefore, a target group that is generated using a selection header can be used both for campaigns, trade promotions, and during the creation of activity journals.

¡        A selection header for an activity journal

The selection header that you create in the Activity Journal Definition component is specific to an activity journal template. The target group that is generated is assigned to a particular activity journal template. Sales representatives use these activity journal templates, for example, to report on the activities performed at a customer’s site.

       2.      Generate a target group

You can generate a target group, using a standard selection header or an advanced selection header.

¡        Standard Selection Header: Provides you with a fixed set of criteria from which you can generate a target group. For more information, see Target Group Generation: Standard Selection Header.

¡        Advanced Selection Header: Provides you with detailed criteria that enable you to perform an advanced search. For more information, see Target Group Generation: Advanced Selection Header.

       3.      You can now perform any of the following functions on the target group:

¡        Process target groups

§         You can maintain the description of a target group in different languages or modify the existing description.

§         You can also create and maintain a copy of a target group.

¡        Process target group members

§         You can create a copy of a target group, add, remove, replace, and delete the target group members in a target group.

§         You can also create mass mailings, using a Microsoft Word document. In addition, you can also send e-mails to the business partners or contact persons in a target group. Furthermore, you can also send e-mails to the sales representatives who are associated with the business partners or contact persons in a target group

Result

You have created a target group.
