Component documentationFacilities (FS-MCM-FAC)

Many banks agree upon main lines of credit with their customers to finance large projects. These agreements apply to multiple contracts, and are called facilities. A facility can include, for example, different products, currencies, and branches.

In Master Contract Management (FS-MCM) (see Master Contract Management (FS-MCM)), you can represent a facility as a hierarchy of master contracts and participant accounts. Participant accounts can be only checking accounts or loan accounts. For an example of this type of master contract hierarchy, see Facilities.

Process Combinations

Note Note

You can combine this process with other processes in Master Contract Management. For an overview of all combination options, see Master Contract Management (FS-MCM).

End of the note.

Implementation Considerations

You need to decide (once) which model or combination thereof that you want to use for calculating facility utilization. Your choice determines the configuration, Customizing, calculation method, and participants of the facility.

For more information about this decision and its consequences, see the documentation in the Customizing activity Edit General Settings. This is in Customizing for Master Contract Management under Start of the navigation path Master Contract Applications Next navigation step Facilities End of the navigation path). We recommend that you read this documentation and the relevant release notes carefully. For more information, see also Choosing the Calculation Model for Calculating Facility Utilization.

The following facility documentation describes the functions of the new calculation model. We specify explicitly if the documentation refers to the functions of the models from the previous releases.

Integration

The Facilities function requires an account-managing system to be connected to Master Contract Management (FS-MCM).

Account Management (FS-AM) is connected in the standard system.

For more information, see Communication with Account-Managing Systems.

Features

The Facilities function enables you to create facilities (see Facility Creation), to calculate the utilization of a facility, and to run an automatic check to see if the limits set up for the master contract hierarchy are adhered to.

Even if you execute business transactions for the participants of a facility (for example, you post a payment item to a participant checking account, or change the external limit of a participant master contract), the system runs checks in real time (includes limit checks), which apply to the whole hierarchy of the facility. Some business transactions can mean that the system re-calculates the facility utilization. For more information, see Facility Business Transactions of Master Contracts, Facility Business Transactions of Checking Accounts, and Facility Business Transactions of Loan Accounts.

The Display Facility report enables you to determine the facility in which a selected master contract is participating. You can display the master contract hierarchy with its structure and the utilization calculated by the system (see Displaying Facilities of Master Contracts).
