Creating Other Resources

Use

In this step, you create resources that could be required for holding courses other than rooms, instructors, or material from the material master.

Prerequisites

Before you can create an other resource, you must create the resource type other resource and maintain all of the relevant availability indicators for it.

Before you can maintain the Costs infotype for resources, you must carry out the step Defining Cost Items in Customizing for Training Management under Course Preparation.

Procedure

On the SAP Easy Access screen, in the SAP Menu choose Human Resources ® SAP Learning Solution ® Settings ® Current Settings ® Resource Management ® Other Resources. The Resource: Initial Screen appears.

Enter the validity start date of the object in the Validity field.

Note

For clarity's sake, you should enter 01/01/ of a calendar year.

If required, change the status of the new resource. The default status entered is active.

Note

You can create other resources in either active or planned status. Planned status is rarely used in Training Management except for courses. You could, however, use planned status to indicate resources that have not yet been acquired.

Choose . The Create Resource: Data Screen appears.
Enter an abbreviation and a long name for the new resource.
Maintain the infotypes offered on the tab strips as required:

Relationships:

Is a specialization of resource type:

You specify the relevant resource type (other resource) for the resource.

Cost center assignment:

Specify the cost center assignment of the resource if this data has not already been maintained for the resource type or if you want to override this value.

Belongs to location:

Use this relationship for location-dependent resources to specify their location.

Capacity:

You only maintain this infotype for rooms. It has, therefore, no relevance here.

Result

You have created a resource. You can reserve this resource when you plan and create course dates.
