Processing of Meter Readings
Purpose
Meter readings processing allows the Oil & Gas system to receive sales flow and other meter data from service stations, and make this data available for subsequent processes such as billing and goods movements.
Prerequisites
To enable the system to process meter readings you must:
- Configure the interface for receiving meter reading data from the relevant external systems. For more information, see
Interfaces to External Systems.
Configure the upload process for meter readings using the Process Control tool.
Make the relevant Customizing settings for the Document Base Table (DBT).
Configure fields for manual meter readings.
Define meter assignments in the business location master record at business type level. For more information, see Assigning Meters to Business Locations.
Assign a Processing Profile, Material Handling Group and conversion group to the location at business type level.
Process Flow
Meter Reading Processing

- An external system sends meter reading data to the meter readings upload interface of the IS-Oil system. For information on how to display this data, see Displaying Uploaded Meter Reading Data.
The following data is received for each material:
- Location ID
- Service type (for example, self or full service)
- Timestamp
- Time zone
- Meter event type (for example, sales flow, resets, or flushing)
- Counter reading
- Sales price
- The system carries out the checks configured for the meter readings upload process.
- If the readings are accepted, the sales volume is determined and the readings are written to the:
If readings are rejected, you can correct them and process them later. For more information, see Handling Meter Reading Errors.
Result
Subsequent processes such as service station partner invoicing and goods movement creation can now use the meter reading data held in the
Document Base Table (DBT).
