Assigning Meters to Business Locations

Use

You assign sales meters to capture sales flow data relating to sales of materials sold at a location. Depending on the access profile that you assign to the location, you can define meters for materials or for material and service type combinations.

Sales meter data can be used for:

Processes such as partner invoicing and goods movements
Reports

Prerequisites

In the business location master record you must have assigned a material handling group that includes the material for which the meter is being defined. For more information, see Material Handling Group.

Procedure

Choose Logistics ® Sales and Distribution ® Service Station Retailing ® Master data ® Location ® Change.

The Change Business Location: Initial Screen appears

Enter the Location ID and the Business type defined for fuel sales, and choose Go to ® Location data ® Meters.

The Change Business Location: Meter / Material screen appears.

If no meters have been assigned to the location yet, you have to enter:

An access profile. This determines whether:

A service type column appears in the meter list

Overlapping validity periods are allowed for meter assignments

Meter assignments are time relevant and if so, whether date and time are relevant

In Customizing for the Industry Solution Oil & Gas (Downstream), you define access profiles by choosing SSR (Service Station Retailing) ® Fuels Processing ® Process Configuration ® Define access profile.

Note

If one or more meters have been assigned, the access profile cannot be changed unless you first delete those assignments.

A standard service type

The standard service type is used by the system as the default whenever a service type is required for processing but is not specified in the interface.

Choose Enter.

Choose Insert line.

The Meter type dialog box appears.

Enter the following data:

A material belonging to the material handling group assigned to the location

A start time. If the access profile does not allow key duplicates, you must not enter a date specified in an existing assignment for the same material or material and service type combination. In Customizing for the Industry Solution Oil & Gas (Downstream), you define access profiles by choosing SSR (Service Station Retailing) ® Fuels Processing ® Process Configuration ® Define access profile.

Choose Enter.

The Create Meter Characteristics - Basic Data screen appears.

Enter the required data. To link a meter to a specific storage object, choose SOC assignments. You can also link a meter to multiple storage objects if the corresponding indicator has been set in Customizing of the defined access profile.
Go back.

The Change Business Location: Meter / Material screen appears.

The meter that you just defined appears in the meter list.

Save your entries.

The Change Business Location: Initial Screen appears. A message confirms that the business location master record has been changed.
