Use

When you use the Two-Dimensional Price Maintenance Tool to maintain target prices, you can use pricing groups to generate price proposals based on:

·        Differences defined between materials and service types

·        Changes to competitor prices

·        Changes to prices at locations within the same location cluster

Features

Material and Service Type Differences

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

You can define price difference groups for materials and service types, and assign one material difference group and one service type difference group to every business type defined for each location. During price maintenance, the system can apply the differences at the material and material/ service type levels for each location when calculating price proposals.

In each price difference group, you define differences in relation to reference materials and service type respectively.

Competitor Differences

You can assign competitor locations to your locations and define price differences between those locations and your location at the location and the material levels. During price maintenance, the system can apply the differences when copying competitor price changes to calculate new price proposals for your location.

Location Cluster

You can assign a location to a cluster. Within each cluster you can define differences at the location or the location and material level. During price maintenance, the system can calculate new price proposals by copying a change to prices at one location to the other locations within the cluster. Any defined differences are included in the calculation of the new price.

Example

In the example below, a price of 0.98 at location 1 is copied to the locations 2 and 3. The new price at location 3 is then copied to locations 4 and 5, producing the proposals shown. The new price proposals could also be generated by changing the price at location 1 and then doing a cluster update.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

If you changed the price at location 4 to 0,98 and copied the change to other locations, the system would:

·        Add 0,03 to generate a price proposal for locations without a defined difference, so that the price for locations 1, 2and 5 would be 1.01

·        Apply differences to this price, so that the price proposed for location 3 would be 1,03

Activities

In Customizing for the Industry Solution Oil & Gas (Downstream), you create:

·        Material differences groups by choosing SSR ® Fuels Processing ® Pricing ® Define differences group: material differences

·        Service type differences groups by choosing SSR ® Fuels Processing ® Pricing ® Define differences group: service type differences

·        Location clusters by choosing SSR ® Fuels Processing ® Pricing ® Define differences group: location price cluster

At the business type level of the business location master record, you:

·        Link business locations to price difference groups and location clusters. For more information, see Assigning Price Control Groups to Business Locations.

·        Assign competitor locations to your location. For more information, see Assigning Competitor Locations to Business Locations.
