Background documentationMaster Data and Settings for Quality Collaboration

This section gives an overview on the settings that a customer needs to make in SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC).

Features

General Master Data Settings

You must create the following master data:

  • Business partners for customer and supplier

  • Internet users for customer and supplier

  • Customer location and ship-from location

  • Location products at the customer location

Alert Types

To use alerts for quality notifications, you must activate the relevant alert types in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration under Start of the navigation path Exceptions Next navigation step Alert Type Activation Next navigation step Activate Alert Types End of the navigation path. For more information, see Quality Notification Alerts.

Number Ranges

The customer creates number ranges for the following types of quality notification number:

  • Quality notification number

The customer maintains the number range attribute for the quality notification number on the Web user interface (Web UI) (in the customer view) under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Number Ranges Next navigation step Number Range Attributes End of the navigation path, by specifying the interval type QN (Quality Notification).

The customer maintains a number range interval for the quality notification number on the Web UI under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Number Ranges Next navigation step Quality Notification Number Range Intervals End of the navigation path.

  • Technical quality notification number

The customer maintains the number range for the technical quality notification number in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration under Start of the navigation path Quality Next navigation step Determine Number Ranges for Technical Quality Notification Number End of the navigation path.

For more information about the use of theses numbers, see Data in the Quality Notification Header.

For more information about using these number ranges with an SAP back-end system, see Integration of Quality Collaboration with SAP ERP.

Codes and Code Groups

Suppliers and customers use codes to classify the subject of a quality notification and the problem being reported in a defect item, for example. You define codes in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration under Start of the navigation path Quality Next navigation step Make Settings for Quality Notifications End of the navigation path. For more information, see Codes.

Notification Types

The notification type is used when integrating with a back-end ERP system to classify the quality notification. If necessary, a customer can create his or her own notification types for use with his or her back-end system.

Allowing the Supplier to Change Quality Notification Status

If a quality notification is created in the customer back-end system, only the customer can make status changes and this can only be done in his or her back-end system. You can, however, allow a supplier to change quality notification statuses for quality notifications created by a customer. To do this, select the AllowSupStatusChg checkbox when you specify the assignment of a catalog profile to a notification type for a supplier. For more information, see Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration, under Start of the navigation path Quality Next navigation step Make Settings for Quality Notifications End of the navigation path.

Default Number of Hits in Quality Notification Overview Queries

You can specify the default maximum number of hits to be used for queries on the quality notification overview screen for a particular user by adding the /SCF/QN_MAXROWS parameter to the user profile in transaction SU01 (User Maintenance)

Default Process Types for XML Messages

You specify default process types for inbound XML messages in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration, under Start of the navigation path Basic Settings Next navigation step Processing Inbound and Outbound Messages Next navigation step Process Types for Inbound Messages End of the navigation path. In this activity, you set the Supplier Collaboration process type for the QualityIssueNotificationSUITENotification - Inbound message type.

You specify default process types for outbound XML messages in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration, under Start of the navigation path Basic Settings Next navigation step Processing Inbound and Outbound Messages Next navigation step Process Types for Outbound Messages End of the navigation path . In this activity, you set the Supplier Collaboration process type for the QualityIssueNotificationSUITENotification - Outbound message type.

For more information, see the documentation in Customizing.

Hiding Tasks Based on Processor Type

You can hide quality notification tasks from specific processor types. The system does not display the hidden quality notification tasks of the customer for the supplier on the supplier view of the Quality Notification Details Web screen. You can make these settings for quality notification documents in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration under Start of the navigation path Quality Next navigation step Make Settings for Quality Notifications Next navigation step Hide Tasks Based on Processor Type End of the navigation path.

Business Add-Ins (BAdIs)

Various BAdIs are available for quality collaboration in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration, under Start of the navigation path Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) for SAP SNC Next navigation step Quality Next navigation step Quality Notification End of the navigation path that you can use to modify the processing of QNs.

For XML messages related to quality notifications, the following BAdIs are available in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration, under Start of the navigation path Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) for SAP SNC Next navigation step Basic Settings Next navigation step Processing Inbound and Outbound Messages End of the navigation path:
