Procedure documentationEvaluating Data Stored in the Retention Warehouse System

In the ILM Retention Warehouse, you manage the lifecycle of legacy data from decommissioned systems. Although you can no longer access the legacy systems, you can retrieve the data for auditing purposes. For this purpose you define the scope of the data to be queried in audit package templates, which are based on audit areas. You create the audit packages based on the audit package templates. You can retrieve the data in the audit package using local functions (local reporting) or with BW queries.

Procedure

  • Audit package template

You can create various audit package templates based on an audit area. Using an audit package template, you can restrict the total number of objects of the audit area to exactly those objects that you want to evaluate in SAP NetWeaver BW. In addition to the tables and fields, you specify which views and relations from the audit area should be available. The audit package template must contain the objects from the extraction services; you select the transaction data based on the purpose of the audit.

For more information, see: Editing Audit Package Templates

  • Audit Package Management

You process your audit packages using the user interface of Audit Package Management, which is based on Web Dynpro ABAP. You can integrate this interface in the SAP NetWeaver Portal. This user interface is further based on the personal object worklist (POWL) of the ILM audit package administrator (SAP_ILM_WP_ADMIN). The interface includes these applications:

    • Create audit package for SAP NetWeaver BW or local reporting

    • Create infrastructure in SAP NetWeaver BW or create local reporting

    • Transfer archive data to SAP NetWeaver BW or transfer local reporting

    • Delete content and infrastructure related to an audit package in SAP NetWeaver BW or delete local reporting

For more information, see: Extracting Data with Audit Package Management

  • BW generation

After you have created an audit package, you can create the infrastructure (InfoObjects and InfoProviders) in SAP NetWeaver BW. The Retention Warehouse analyzes the tables referenced in the audit package using their meta information and automatically creates the infrastructure needed for reporting in SAP NetWeaver BW. You can use a Business Add-In (BAdI) to influence the mapping of archived data and meta information to InfoObjects and InfoProviders. Then you can transfer the archived data to SAP NetWeaver BW and run reports on it.

For more information, see: Extracting Audit Packages to SAP NetWeaver BW

  • Local reporting (without SAP NetWeaver BW)

Local reporting is also called from audit package management and is run for an audit package specifically created for local reporting or for BI. You can use local reporting to display archived data in different formats and, if necessary, to make data available to a tax auditor in AIS format.
