Extracting Audit Packages to SAP NetWeaver BW
You use this function for audit packages in Retention Warehouse to create the infrastructure in SAP NetWeaver BW and to transfer the content (archived data) to SAP NetWeaver BW.
This function belongs to Audit Package Management.
You have installed and configured the Business Package for Retention Warehouse Administration 1.50. For more information, see the business package documentation.
You need the ILM Audit Package Administrator
(SAP_ILM_WP_ADMIN
) role in the back-end system to create and edit audit packages.
You have a correctly created audit package.
When extracting an audit package to SAP NetWeaver BW, make these settings:
Specify whether the system should use InfoCubes or DataStore objects for the archived transaction data.
Specify whether the system just creates the infrastructure in SAP NetWeaver BW, or whether it also transfers the content.
The Retention Warehouse processes your requests in the following steps:
Analysis of Tables
Creation of Infrastructure in SAP NetWeaver BW
Transfer of Archived Data to SAP NetWeaver BW
The Retention Warehouse analyzes each table contained in the audit package and determines the objects that it then creates in SAP NetWeaver BW. For more information, see Analyzing Audit Packages.
The Retention Warehouse creates the infrastructure as outlined below:
Create InfoArea in SAP NetWeaver BW
The Retention Warehouse creates an InfoArea where it organizes all of the objects in the audit package. The InfoArea has the same name as the audit package.
Create InfoObject Catalogs in SAP NetWeaver BW
In the InfoArea, the Retention Warehouse creates one InfoObject catalog for the characteristics and a separate one for the key figures.
Create InfoObjects in SAP NetWeaver BW
The Retention Warehouse creates the necessary InfoObjects and then, based on them, the characteristics. Depending on your Customizing settings, the system generates the InfoObjects with or without parallel processing. For the characteristics, the system distinguishes between simple InfoObjects and complex InfoObjects with compounding and attributes. The system generates the simple InfoObjects first, then the complex InfoObjects. When the system creates complex InfoObjects, it sometimes can occur that the InfoObjects necessary for compounding and attribution are not yet active. If that happens, the system issues an error message and restarts the generation process. Along with the characteristics, the system also creates the units, so that they are available when the key figures are generated afterward.
The InfoObjects are generated in two steps. First the system creates all the InfoObjects, then it activates the InfoObjects. The current status of all InfoObjects being generated is recorded on the database.
Add InfoObjects to InfoObjectCatalogs
Once the system has created and activated all InfoObjects, it places them in the appropriate InfoObjectCatalog.
Create InfoProviders in SAP NetWeaver BW
The Retention Warehouse creates the InfoProviders for the transaction data and activates them.
Create InfoSets in SAP NetWeaver BW
The Retention Warehouse generates the InfoSets.
The Retention Warehouse generates a log with the results of the individual steps.
Since the Retention Warehouse uses transactional InfoProviders (InfoCubes or DataStore objects), it can transfer the archived data directly to SAP NetWeaver BW.
Call the POWL for ILM Audit Package Administrators in SAP NetWeaver Portal or the SAP NetWeaver Business Client, choose the audit package and use the application for extracting data to SAP NetWeaver BW.
