Solving Scheduling Problems

Use

After you have identified the scheduling problems in the detailed scheduling planning board , you try to solve these problems. In the planning board, there are several functions, in addition to manual rescheduling with Drag&Drop and detailed scheduling heuristics , which you can use to automatically execute certain scheduling steps, or which support you in other ways during scheduling. These functions are as follows:

Function	Use
Process Orders	When you want to create or delete orders, change the order quantity, or switch the source of supply
Scheduling or Rescheduling Operations and Orders using Drag&Drop	When you want to manually schedule or reschedule operations and orders
Deallocating Operations and Orders	When you want to (temporarily) remove individual operations and orders from the resource schedule
Rescheduling Operations and Orders	When you want to schedule or reschedule operations and orders and be supported by the system
Scheduling Operations in Non-Working Times	When you want to complete an operation or order with short notice outside of the regular working time
Fixing Operations, Orders, and Time Intervals	If you do not want it to be possible to change operations and orders as far as date/time and resource assignment are concerned, or to change the schedule of a resource in a specific interval
Interrupt Started or Partly Confirmed Operations	When you want to reschedule an operation that has started or has been partly confirmed
Backlog Rescheduling Heuristic	When you want to reschedule operations and orders that lie in the past
Sequencing Heuristic	When you want to reschedule operations and orders in a certain sequence that you have defined using sort criteria
Manual Sequencing Heuristic	When you want to reschedule operations and orders in a certain sequence that you have defined manually
Optimizing Scheduling	When you want to optimize scheduling with regard to certain criteria, such as setup times
Loading Alternative Resources	When you want to reschedule operations on alternative resources in the planning board
Changing Detailed Scheduling Strategies	When you cannot solve the scheduling problem with the current detailed scheduling strategies
Displaying and Changing Scheduling Data of Objects	When you want to change the scheduling data for the resources, for example
Displaying Logs	The following logs are available, if you want to find out which problems occurred (if at all) during scheduling, planning or optimization: Scheduling log Planning log Optimization log
