Fixing Operations, Orders, and Time Intervals If you do not wish to make any more changes to the dates and resource assignment for an operation or order, or if you do not wish to make any further changes to the resource schedule for a specific time segment, you can fix the operation, order or (for certain time intervals) the resource.
Fixing operations or orders
This function is available on the detailed scheduling planning board or in the production planning run . A fixed scheduled operation cannot be rescheduled or deallocated, and a fixed deallocated operation cannot be scheduled or adjusted (see detailed scheduling activities ). By fixing an order, you fix all operations in that order. Through fixing, the operation or order is given the following status:
An operation is given the status
Fixed.
An order that contains at least one fixed operation is given the status
date fixed and PP firmed
(that is, the order is also fixed for
Production Planning
(PP)).
If you called up the DS planning board using a standard planning board profile, fixed objects are indicated by a red bar.
Defining fixing intervals for resources
You fix resources by interval. You cannot change the schedule in a fixing interval . This means:
Operations that lie completely or partially within a fixing interval are fixed
You cannot schedule or reschedule operations in fixing intervals
You use a planning interval to define a period in which the resource can be scheduled. Outside the planning interval, the resource is fixed.
Fixing intervals are shown as red in the resource chart; the operations and associated orders contained in the chart are not marked as fixed, however.
Note
This function is only available on the detailed scheduling planning board.
If you have fixed an operation or order on the DS planning board, the associated order acquires the status
date fixed
and
PP firmed
.
An operation or order with the status
date fixed
(and thus also
PP firmed
) is fixed for de
tailed scheduling and production planning.
If you reset the fixing on the planning board, the
date fixed
status is reset. If the corresponding order also has the status
output firmed
or
input firmed
, the PP firming is retained.
An operation that lies within a
fixing interval
of a resource is fixed only for detailed scheduling. In this case, neither the Fixed
indicator in the operation nor the Date Fixed
indicator in the order is set. This operation is not protected from changes that production planning may make (for example, in the MRP run).
The system also takes the fixing of operations and orders, as well as fixing intervals, into account during the optimization process.
To fix individual operations and orders, select the objects and choose If you perform this function for a selected activity, the system fixes the entire associated operation.
To undo the fixing, select the fixed objects and choose
Choose the function
Fix Object
or
Unfix Object
for the processing step in the production planning run in which objects are to be fixed or unfixed.
Enter the objects that are to be fixed or unfixed.
Note
You cannot change the scheduling for objects outside the propagation range . You cannot undo this “fixing”.
To create, change, or delete fixing intervals for resources, select the resources and choose
You can also create, replace, or delete fixing intervals using the heuristic
SAP_DS_03
. In addition, you can specify in the heuristic settings that the operations lying within the fixing interval that is to be created are to be fixed when the heuristic is executed. As a result, the operations are protected not only from changes due to the detailed scheduling but also from possible changes made in an MRP run. After execution of the heuristic, the order has the status Date Fixed
and PP-Firmed
.
