  Scheduling Mode

Use

Using the scheduling mode, you define how the system schedules or reschedules a selected operation on a resource. You can schedule finitely or infinitely on a resource. The following finite and infinite scheduling modes are available for this purpose:

Scheduling Mode

Description

Type

Can be used for

Infinite scheduling

Schedules or reschedules an operation without considering the resource load on the desired date

Infinite

Infinite and finite resources

Searching for a slot

Searches for a sufficiently large slot with sufficient capacity for an operation

Finite

Finite resources

Adding an operation at the end

Adds an operation at the end of the schedule

Inserting an operation

Inserts an operation as close to the desired date as possible in the existing schedule and shifts neighboring operations that lie in the planning direction if necessary

Finite

Finite Single-activity resources

Inserting an operation and closing gaps

Inserts an operation and subsequently closes gaps in the schedule

Squeezing in an operation

Inserts an operation on the desired date in the existing schedule and shifts neighboring operations in both directions if necessary

Search for bucket with available capacity

Only relevant for block planning with buckets when the bucket capacity of the single mixed resources planned in blocks are to be planned finitely.

The system uses this scheduling mode to try to schedule the operation to be scheduled or rescheduled to the next block with available bucket capacity (according to the predefined scheduling direction).

The operations are scheduled infinitely on all other resources where only the continuous capacity is relevant for scheduling.

Finite

Single mixed resources with block scheduling

Note Note

You define whether a resource is finite or infinite in the scheduling parameters for the resource via the Finite Scheduling indicator. In the case of infinite resources, the system always schedules or reschedules an operation infinitely on the desired date , that is, without considering the existing resource load.

End of the note.

You control how the system reschedules dependent operations using the scheduling submode .
