Report Generation Example: Standard Operating Procedure
Purpose
When you have created a
report template, you can generate documents for the respective application object. You use the report information system to do this. You can send the resulting document using report shipping. The following process uses the example of a
standard operating procedure to explain how you generate a report.Prerequisites
System Requirements
(WWI) at your workplace. You will find information on installing WWI in Customizing for Product Safety under WWI Installation.
Data Entry
Before you can generate a standard operating procedure, you must enter the relevant
work area data and agent data in the system. Which data this is depends on the layout of the template and the symbols used in it.In general, you should enter at least the following data for the work area:
For the agents assigned to the work area, the data for the various sections of the standard operating procedure must have been entered in specification management. This generally includes:
Process Flow
Depending on whether the report template contains symbols that relate to agents, report generation is done either in one or two steps:
|
Template Refers to Agents This means the template contains symbols that relate to an agent. The symbols can have the symbol category Symbol or Phrase. |
Template Does Not Refer to Agents This means the template does not contain symbols that relate to an agent. These symbols have the category Parameter. |
|
If the Generate manual requests automatically indicator is set in the generation variant for the report, you generate the report directly from the report information system. If the indicator is not set, you must first generate report bodies for the agents to which the template refers. To do this, proceed as follows:
All report bodies are then created on the generation server. Now you can generate the final report. To do this, you must change to the report information system.See also: Generation of Work Area Documents |
Generating a report body is not necessary. The final report can be generated immediately. This is done in the report information system. See also: Generation of Work Area Documents |
Result
You have created a document that is ready to be dispatched. You can send it to users of the SAP System, to customers (debtors), or to report recipients using
report shipping. See also Address Management in Industrial Hygiene and Safety.
