Use

You can analyze the workload of SAP R/3 Systems and non-SAP R/3 systems in the global workload monitor. You can use various analysis views for SAP R/3 Systems, and various analyses for non-SAP R/3 systems.

An analysis always displays an aspect of the system load. One of these aspects is the question of whether statistics data is available for a particular component. If a component does not send any statistics data for a certain time, the component statistics are regarded as not available. You can set this period of time (the check interval) separately for each component type (see Setting Parameters for Statistics Collection); the default length is 15 minutes. As soon as statistics data is sent again, the corresponding component is regarded as available again.

Note

You cannot assume that a component is not available because the statistics records are missing. There can be various, critical and non-critical reasons for missing statistics, such as:

Prerequisites

The Internet Transaction Server is currently the only non-SAP R/3 component type for which statistics records are written that can be analyzed in the global workload monitor. We plan to include other component types in the future.

Procedure

  1. Start the global workload monitor by calling transaction ST03G.
  2. In the Workload tree in the upper left subscreen, choose the component type and the components that you want to analyze. For more information about the structure of the workload tree, see Structure of the Workload Tree of the Global Workload Monitor.
  3. In the Analyses tree in the lower left subscreen, choose the Availability option.
  4. The system displays an output area, in which the requested data is displayed in an Structure linkALV Grid Control.

Result

The system displays a list with the periods for which the statistics data of the selected component is available or not available. If you have selected the combination of all components of a component type (TOTAL), the system also displays, in the Single Components tab page, the availability of all components that are combined for the TOTAL aggregation.
