Use

You use this function to import the following data into the SAP System:

Integration

Phrase import and source import belong directly to specification import.

Features

The following functions are included in specification import:

File Check

The SAP System checks if the data can be transferred correctly from the transfer file and compares the specifications from the transfer file with the substances in the specification database.

See File Check During Specification Import.

The SAP System writes a log for the file check. You use this log to correct any errors that occur.

Control

You use parameters to define:

See Specification Import Control.

Data Import

The data is transferred in the background using the direct-input procedure. The SAP System creates an import log for this.

Note

While you are importing a specification, the specification assigned in the SAP System is locked against changes in specification management. If the lock cannot be set, the specification cannot be imported.

When importing identifiers, the system ensures that there are no inconsistencies for existing identifiers in the SAP System.

The SAP System does not import a specification if there are errors in the specification master record (specification header, identifiers).

If there are errors in other values, the corresponding data is not imported (a material assignment, usage, or the complete value assignment).

Information on the errors that occurred is displayed in the import log (see Error Handling During Specification Import).
