Use

The SAP System checks that identifiers are unique before they are imported.

Note

In Specification Import Control you can specify whether identifiers should be standardized for this check or not.

Features

The following cases can occur during the check:

Initial Situation

Result

The identifier exists in the SAP System and in the transfer file; both have the same data origin.

The identifier remains unchanged.

The identifier exists in the SAP System and in the transfer file; but they have different origins.

The data origin for the identifier in the SAP System is deleted.

Note

If the data origin for an identifier is missing, this means the identifier has at least two data origins.

Initial Situation

Result

The identifier exists in the transfer file, but not in the SAP System.

The identifier is created with its data origin in the SAP System.

The identifier exists in the SAP System, but not in the transfer file.

The identifier is deleted.

Note

This procedure ensures that any typing errors in an identifier can be corrected in the SAP System during renewed import.

To avoid unwanted data losses when deleting an identifier, you must ensure that all necessary identifiers are complete in the transfer file.

Example

The erroneous identifier WASER with data origin ABC is present in the SAP System. A renewed import leads to the creation of the correct identifier WATER in the SAP System with data origin ABC. As WASER is not present in the transfer file, WASER is deleted by the SAP System. The typing error is corrected.
