Use

You use parameters to control the file check and specification import. You can set default parameters by using exchange profiles to define default values in Customizing for Product Safety. You can overwrite the parameters manually in the parameters dialog box.

Features

You can use the following parameters to control specification import:

You use the Search spec. type field to define the method with which you assign the specifications in the transfer file to the specifications in the SAP System. The search method is used for:

You can search using the specification key or using precisely defined identifiers. You can also enter combinations.

When searching using identifiers, the identification listing specified is used for the search. The position and priority of an identifier within an identification listing has no significance here. All identifiers in the identification listing for a specification are read from the file.

The search can be run as an AND or an OR search using the Logic link type field.

Example

The specification IMPSUB in the file has the CAS number 50-00-0. It is searched for using the CAS number only. Three specifications (SUB1, SUB2, SUB3) are found in the system with this CAS number. The following is displayed:

SUB1 50-00-0

IMPSUB 50-00-0

SUB2 50-00-0

IMPSUB 50-00-0

SUB3 50-00-0

IMPSUB 50-00-0

No assignment is selected for import. You have to make the correct assignment yourself.

You define how new data is to be imported into the SAP System and if old data is to be deleted or retained.

Example

You use the Spec. deletion type field to specify whether:

You use the Phrase conversion field to specify that all phrases to be used as value assignments are to be converted to phrases in the active phrase library, if phrase references were defined.

You use the Property tree or Usage profile field to specify that the data to be imported belongs to the value assignment types in a particular property tree or has the usage in a particular usage profile. In the IMG activity Set Up Property Trees in Customizing for Product Safety, you can select the property trees that you want to use for data import.

When specifications are imported, the system checks whether their identifiers already exist in the system (see Identifier Import). If an identifier for a specification already exists in the system, it is not created again. Using the Check nonstand. ID indicator you can specify whether the identifiers are to be standardized for this check (indicator not set) or not (indicator set). This means you can specify whether identifiers such as ACETONE and Acetone are to be considered as identical or not. You can therefore ensure that identifiers whose exact spelling and capitalization is prescribed in laws or regulations are only imported if an identifier with exactly the same spelling exists already.

You specify standard values for specification types, authorization groups, user-defined text types, and component types. If the values are missing in the transfer file, the SAP System uses the standard values.

You specify if the specification key for new specifications should be taken from the internal number range. Otherwise, the specification key in the file is used.
