Transaction Data Extractor for Consolidation Data
Use
You use the transaction data extractor to transfer transaction data from the source system (EC-CS) to BW. The extractor fills the extractor structure in the Consolidation DataSource with the transaction data from the source system.
Since the Hierarchy To characteristic is not used, it is possible to fill the InfoCube incrementally.
Prerequisites
Your Consolidation system contains Plug-In 2000.1 or higher.
Features
Cumulative key figures in the InfoCube?
As the extractor provides the values from the carryforward period in BW, you do not need to store cumulative key figures in the InfoCube. However, you can do so if you wish. If you only store periodic key figures in the InfoCube, you can save on data volume in the
fact table, as this table then contains less key figures. The following table provides an overview of the consequences of storing cumulative key figures in the InfoCube:

Cumulative key figures in the InfoCube? - The consequences: |
|
Data Volume |
If you store periodic key figures only, the data volume of the InfoCube is smaller, as the fact table is more compact. |
|
Extraction |
If you store periodic key figures only, extraction is faster, as fewer data records have to be transferred. (If you also keep cumulative key figures in the InfoCube, data records must also be transferred for future closing periods.) |
|
Reporting |
With cumulative key figures, Reporting tends to be faster, as ideally less data records have to be selected. |
If you want to store periodic key figures only, you must define the InfoCube without cumulative key figures (YTD key figures). Also, the InfoCube must contain the time characteristics 0FISCYEAR and 0FISCPER3 (instead of 0FISCPER). This is essential so that you can reconstruct the YTD key figures as restricted key figures.

You can select the key figure "YTD in local currency in period/fiscal year PPP.YYYY" as follows:

Period balance in local currency
