In the R/3 process message evaluation, the criteria according to which message data is selected and analyzed are defined by the user. This enables you to adjust the evaluations to your specific problem or interest in the message data.

Depending on the type of evaluation you want to carry out, you have the following options:

• If you need to carry out a detailed analysis of data for a special problem, you can set up an evaluation specifically for this problem directly before the evaluation run (ad hoc evaluation).

• If you want to carry out standard analyses, for example, on performance figures, you can create and save a corresponding evaluation version.

In both cases, the following settings need to be defined on the plant level:

• selection criteria according to which process messages are to be selected for the evaluation

• the layout of the XXL display and/or the graphics display

If you save these settings in an evaluation version, you can call them up at any time to carry out evaluations for different periods and message categories.

The R/3 System offers the following maintenance functions for evaluation versions:

• You can create an evaluation version from scratch.

• To reduce the work involved in creating similar evaluation versions, you can copy the data of an existing evaluation version and change it.

• You can change an evaluation version either

• permanently if you save your changes or
• for an individual evaluation run if you do not save the changes

• You can delete an evaluation version online.
