What's New in SAP Fiori Launchpad

SAP Fiori 2.0 design with the corresponding theme SAP Belize (sap_belize) has been introduced. SAP Fiori 2.0 is the next generation user experience with a new design concept that is intuitive, personalized, simple, and effective - it is the new user experience for SAP S/4HANA and other solutions. Design	Improved	A multi-dimensional panoramic user interface. Users can focus on their daily work and still keep track of what's going on in other areas. The flexible display consists of the following areas: Home page - the main area where the user works. Me Area - left area with user-specific information and personalization options. Me Area	New	The Me Area slides into view from the left of the home page. From here, users have access to various user-related information including personalization, profile, settings, and interaction history. Main features include: The user's profile picture and name Apps and other objects recently visited by the user A catalog of available apps (app finder) User settings and preferences User account details Appearance Language and region User profiling (if enabled) Default Values Option to contact support (if enabled) Option to give feedback (if enabled) Sign out For more information, see Me Area.	N/A Included a user action menu (accessed from the top right of the shell header) and floating edit button.
Header	Improved	Includes the same buttons as SAP Fiori 1.00, as well as buttons to navigate to the Me Area. The merged header also includes many more new features: The app title appears in the header when a user launches an app from the launchpad. A hierarchical navigation menu displays the history of the users recent steps that lead them to the current view of an app. This helps the user to navigate within an app and to get back to the view where they were initially working. For each SAP GUI or Web Dynpro application in the SAP Menu or User Menu tabs in the app finder, the system checks if a corresponding application descriptor is defined in the Mass Maintenance Tool (MMT) and, if it is available, reads the title, subtitle, icon and parameters. When the user adds the tile to the home page, the information retrieved from the application descriptor is displayed.

Administrators can now configure the SAP Easy Access function using system aliases defined in the mapping table /UI2/SYSALIASMAP. This reduces the maintenance effort if you have several system aliases pointing to the same physical source system.

You can now integrate a whole set of Web Dynpro and SAP GUI applications in the launchpad using the mass maintenance tool. You create custom technical catalogs with application descriptors in the backend and replicate these catalogs to the frontend server.

The new program Fiori System Alias Check (transaction /UI2/FSAC) is available to identify issues regarding the system aliases configured for the launchpad.

The checks were also added to Fiori Launchpad Checks (transaction /UI2/FLC) and Fiori Launchpad Intent Analysis (transaction /UI2/FLIA).

A cache busting mechanism was introduced for SAPUI5 flexibility services. A validity token in the start URL notifies the browser whether UI flexibility changes exist and validation requests to the server are required or data can be fetched directly from the browser's cache.

New parameters have been added that allow administrators to configure various aspects of the Fiori launchpad:

• Toggle the display of the recent activity in the Me Area (parameter: enableRecentActivity)

• Toggle the display of the Sign Out option in the Me Area (parameter: disableSignOut).

• Toggle the display of the background shapes in the new SAP Belize theme (parameter: enableBackGroundShapes)

• Toggle the display the Cozy Content Spacing option in the Appearance settings, which allows users of hybrid devices to reduce the spacing between the controls on the screen (by default, the cosy setting is turned on for hybrid devices).

Administrators can enable the display of users' photos or avatars instead of the generic person-placeholder icon in relevant controls in the SAP Fiori launchpad, such as the shell header and Me Area. You must integrate SAP Jam to apply this functionality.
