Tool Assistant

Use

The Tool Assistant panel helps to optimize the authoring of content, by displaying all the parameters of a selected tool in one location. A dropdown menu is available, from which you can select any of the tools available.

Features

The tools contained within the Tool Assistant are the following:

  • Select: Provides options for selecting specific parts of the model. For example, all objects at the same level

  • Pull Apart: Manually selects objects from directly within the scene, and pulls them apart from the model

  • Object Move: Moves selected objects relative to the selected axis or axes, and duplicates objects

  • Object Rotate: Rotates selected objects relative to the selected axis, and duplicates objects

  • Object Scale: Scales selected objects relative to the selected axis or axes, and duplicates objects

  • Move Pivot Point: Moves the selected objects’ pivot points relative to the selected axis or axes

  • Rotate Pivot Point: Rotates the selected objects’ pivot points relative to the selected axis

  • Cross Section: Creates half or quarter cross-sections, enabling you to view the internal parts and assembly processes

  • Drawing: Creates and edits settings for drawings and markups

  • Manual Explode: Edits the settings for exploded views of parts or assemblies

  • Measurement Tool: Creates and edits settings for measurements

  • PMI Settings: Edits PMI settings

  • Snap Tool: Positions a specific object (Source) precisely in relation to another object (Target)

  • Solid Tools: Creates a finer mesh for models, using specialist tessellation parameters. This option is only available for files containing solids.

  • Volume Select: Makes a volume calculation on the model
