Key Features

Device Dispensing Area

Customers start their shopping experience by scanning their customer card at the device dispensing area. The device dispensing area consists of the Wall Device Manager, featuring a computer system with a touchscreen, a scanner, and a device dispensing wall with cradles. Typical setups include multiple terminals and dispenser walls to accommodate varying store layouts and foot traffic.

Shopping Process

After the customer takes an industry device and leaves the device dispensing area, they enter the shop floor. The customer then selects the items they want to buy and scans them before putting them into their shopping basket. The Self Scanning Client shows all items in a detailed list view and calculates the total purchase amount of the shopping basket at all times. Customers can also use this feature to retrieve their shopping list created in the Shopping List tool and uncheck items in the list while scanning. Customers registered in the loyalty program can see and activate their personal coupons. Enabled coupons are automatically applied.

Device Return Area

Upon completing their shopping trip, customers return the handheld devices to the designated cradles located in the check-out area of the store. This area may consist of several return walls, each equipped with cradles for device return.

A defined process guides customers through closing their virtual shopping basket, returning the handheld device at the designated area, and proceeding to payment. The virtual shopping basket data is seamlessly transferred from the industry scanning device to the central GK/Retail OmniPOS environment for processing.

End of Trip

To complete the self-scanning trip, customers have the option to either scan the "End of Trip" barcode in the designated device return area or simply place the device back in the cradle to trigger an automatic end-of-trip process (if enabled by the store).

With the "QR End of Trip" feature, the system checks the virtual shopping basket and prompts customers to confirm whether all items in their physical basket have been scanned. Upon confirmation, customers are prompted to return the device to the cradle. If any items are missing, the Self Scanning Client conveniently switches to a list view, allowing customers to scan any missed items before finalizing the trip.

The automatic end-of-trip functionality streamlines the process, requiring no additional confirmation from the customer.
