Exporting SAP Data

Use

You export data from the SAP System into a STEP format. The converted data is saved in a STEP file and can be worked on from the STEP processor.

See: STEP interface

Prerequisites

In Customizing the STEP interface you have carried out the following activities:

This model determines how the data is transformed.

The data conversion between the SAP System and the STEP data occurs within a STEP processor that is implemented as the server module. The data exchange between the SAP System and the STEP server is carried out using a RFC destination.

Procedure

  1. You start the export of the SAP data by entering the transaction code STEP10.

  2. Click . You go to the initial screen of the Product structure browser .

  3. Enter the data required and click .

  4. All the objects that are related to the initial object are listed in the product structure screen area.

From this structured list, you can select documents and materials for export.

  5. Position the cursor on the icon of the object to be exported (such as ).

  • By clicking on the left mouse button, you drag the icon into the screen area selected objects and drop the object in the column object type (Drag&Drop).

The data in the columns object key and description, is automatically adjusted.

  • Copy all the data to be exported into the screen area selected objects .

  • Check the list again because you can only change the scope of the objects (documents and materials) to be exported in this processing situation.

  1. Click .

The STEP interface: Export screen appears.

  1. Select the application protocol ( target profile ), in whose data model the SAP data is transformed, for example AP 214 CC8.

  1. Select the STEP server , where the STEP processor is installed.

  • So that the original files for the selected documents are checked out, set the indicator save originals. In this case, you can also enter a local directory for the storage location.

If you want to store the original files in the directory, in which the STEP file is saved, then no entry is necessary.

  • Select the exchange profile that the transformation controls.

  • In the screen area selected objects check the SAP data again that you want to copy into the selected data model.

Note Note

You cannot change this list here. However, if the list is incomplete, or you want to remove and object from the list, you either restart the transaction STEP10, or you select Back and then Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step SAP object End of the navigation path .

End of the note.
  1. Click . The system exports the data into the exchange file.

The header data dialog box appears.

  • Change the default values if necessary.

  • In the description you can enter the information about the transformation.

  • As Authorization enter your e-mail address so that you, as the generator of the file, can be contacted easily by other users.

  1. Click . The file manager dialog box appears

  • Enter the directory and the file name for the STEP file. Select the extension according to the conventions of your specific company.

  • In the file manager, choose Save . You go to the Log .

  1. After you have checked the log, select Back . The SAP view appears.

You get a structured list of the data that has been transformed for the export. Check the data scope.

  1. To save the STEP file, select .

Note Note

You can also carry out the export in individual steps, for example in order to find the cause of an export errors.

See: Individual steps for export

End of the note.

Result

The STEP processor transforms the data from the SAP database into the data model of the selected application protocol. In a subsequent process, this transformed data can be converted into the data model of the target system.
