Controlling the STEP Processor

Use

The STEP processor transforms data that is either written into a STEP file in an export scenario or that is transferred into the SAP System in an import scenario.

Integration

In Customizing the STEP interface the settings that control the STEP processor are made in Start of the navigation path Logistics - general Next navigation step STEP (Standard for Exchange of Product Model Data) Next navigation step Control STEP processor End of the navigation path .

Features

For the data transformation, the STEP processor needs the information from the exchange profile as well as for the RFC server.

This control data contains the following information:

Data

Use

Exchange profile

In this profile, you place the control information that the STEP processor needs for the data transformation.

You decide,

  • which data in a mapping scenario is exported out of, or imported into, the SAP System.

  • how the transformation of data (such as material number or document user) is carried out from the source system into the target system.

  • which parameters are exchanged (extra parameter)

RFC server

The STEP processor runs from a RFC server. The communication between the SAP System and the RFC server takes place using a special RFC destination that you set up for this server (transaction code SM59: Displaying and maintaining the RFC destinations) .

The logging of the RFC communication takes place in an application protocol that you select for the RFC server.

See Maintaining remote destinations .
