Evaporation and Absorption If water or another substance evaporates or is absorbed in a formula, with the result that the input quantity is no longer exactly the same as the output quantity, you can mark the formula accordingly. This allows you to enter in the formula certain data such as the quantity or total solids of the primary output, and the system takes into account the evaporation and absorption in the calculations.

, in the FRML_DEF_EVAP_SUBID environment parameter you can enter a specification that corresponds to the substance that evaporates or is absorbed, such as the specification you created in the system for water, independently of recipes and formulas.
You identify a formula in which evaporation or absorption occurs by setting the
Evaporation/Absorption
indicator in the
Quantities
formula view. If you set this indicator, you can overwrite the calculated quantity of the primary output in the
Input and Output
formula view or enter the total solids of the primary output in percent.

You can only enter the quantities of primary and secondary outputs in a unit of volume if a density is specified in the property tree of the corresponding specification. This is the specification of the particular output substance or, with streams, the specification of the formula.
Depending on whether you have entered the quantity or the total solids of the primary output, the system calculates the evaporation and absorption, as well as other values, as follows:
If you entered the quantity of the primary output, the system calculates the evaporation and absorption by forming the difference between the quantity entered for the primary output and the quantity that results from the sum of the inputs.
If you entered the total solids of the primary output, the system calculates the evaporation and absorption as follows:
The system calculates the mass of the primary output from the sum of the total solids of the inputs and the percentage value entered for the total solids of the primary output.
The system calculates the evaporation and absorption by forming the difference between the calculated mass of the primary output and the mass that results from the sum of the inputs.

The following data exists for a formula:
Proportion of total solids of primary output entered: 50%
Sum of total solids of inputs: 60 kg
Sum of mass of inputs: 100 kg
The mass of the primary output is calculated as follows:
60 kg / 50% = 120 kg
The evaporation or absorption is calculated as follows:
120 kg – 100 kg = 20 kg
Thus, 20 kg are absorbed.
To convert the mass of the evaporation or absorption to the volume or vice versa, the system uses the density that you entered in the specification of the substance evaporating or being absorbed. If you did not enter a density there or if you have not entered a specification in the environment parameter that matches the substance evaporating or being absorbed, the system uses the density 1 kg/l (the density of water under normal conditions).

If, when determining the ingredients, the composition, the nutrient composition, or the evaluation of the diet suitability, the system finds that the primary output contains the substance evaporating or being absorbed, it corrects its proportion as follows:
If the substance evaporates, the system reduces the proportion by the quantity that evaporated.
If the substance is absorbed, the system increases the proportion by the quantity that was absorbed.
The system displays the corrected proportion in the
Nutrient Composition
view if you choose a nutrient group that contains the substance that evaporated or was absorbed, in other words, the nutrient group to which this substance
was assigned
. In addition, the system displays the quantity that evaporated or was absorbed in the column of this substance.

The system determines the nutrient composition when you call the
Nutrient Composition
tab page. At least one input substance has to contain the substance that evaporated or was absorbed, in other words, this substance must have been specified in at least one input substance
in the nutrient composition
so that the system recognizes that the primary output contains the substance that evaporated or was absorbed.
If you set the
Evaporation/Absorption
indicator for a formula, you cannot set the
reaction
indicator at the same time.
In the views in which a formula explosion is performed, the evaporation also results from the exploded formulas in which evaporation can also be present. You can see the evaporation data for the exploded formulas in the calculation log under the entry
