Reaction Indicator for Formulas If conversions take place at molecular level in a formula apart from the mixing, homogenizing, and aeration of the input substances, that is, if a reaction takes place, you can characterize the formula as a reaction. This has effects on whether certain fields are ready for input.
Example
When you dilute a sugar solution with water, the sugar remains, that is, no reaction takes place. On the other hand, if you convert the diluted sugar solution using yeast, a reaction takes place because the sugar is converted into alcohol by the yeast.

When you set a formula as a reaction, you can choose between the following reaction categories in the standard system:

, you use the FRML_REACTION_TYPE environment parameter to control which reaction category the system proposes when you set the
Reaction
indicator.
Furthermore, depending on the reaction category, you can specify in Customizing for
Recipe Management
whether formula views are ready for input (IMG activity
Specify Formula View Parameters
) or whether they take their data from other views (IMG activity
Specify Parameters for Explosion Scope
).
If you set the
Reaction
indicator for a formula, you
cannot
set the
Evaporation/Absorption
indicator for the formula at the same time.
The
Reaction
and
Evaporation/Absorption
indicators influence whether individual primary output fields are ready for input according to the table below:

If you have set one of these indicators and at the same time enter total solids and a quantity in the fields that are ready for input without confirming these entries, the system takes into account only the quantity, that is, the quantity entered has a higher priority than the total solids entered.
You can only enter the quantities of primary and secondary outputs in a unit of volume if a density is specified in the property tree of the corresponding specification. This is the specification of the respective output substance or, with streams, the specification of the formula.
In
formula explosion
the system checks whether the
Reaction
indicator has been set for the explosion scope in the IMG activity
Specify Explosion Scopes
in Customizing for
Recipe Management
and whether the formula that was found is set as a reaction. If the formula is a reaction, the system does not explode the formula any further and transfers the substance or composition of the formula.
If the
Reaction
indicator has been set for a formula, the system does not perform a
consistency check
and does not set the
Consistent
indicator automatically. In this case, you must check the consistency manually and set the
Consistent
indicator manually.
To set a formula as a reaction, proceed as follows:
Load the formula that you want to set as a reaction.
Choose the
Quantities
formula view .
Choose
with the quick info text
Reaction Active/Inactive
.
Specify whether the reaction is a standard reaction or a formula-specific reaction and confirm your choice.
The system sets the
Reaction
indicator in the
Quantities
formula view and above the formula views. In this way, you can see from every formula view whether a reaction takes place in the formula.
You can use the same procedure to deselect the
Reaction
indicator.
