Consistency Check for Formula

Use

This function checks the consistency of a formula and if the check result is positive, it characterizes the formula as consistent by setting the Consistent indicator. The consistency check described here is limited to checking one formula at a time. In the consistency check of the whole recipe , all formulas in the recipe that were not set as consistent are also checked automatically for consistency.

You can also set a formula as consistent manually.

Integration

Consistency is relevant to the release process: You can only release a recipe if all the formulas that belong to the recipe are consistent.

Prerequisites

In Customizing for Recipe Management in the IMG activity Set Up and Activate Formula Views , you have specified which of the following formula views are relevant for consistency, that is, which of these views should be checked during the consistency check:

  • Composition

  • Ingredients

  • Nutrients

The Input and Output formula view is automatically relevant for consistency.

Consistency Check and Selecting theConsistentIndicator

The consistency check of the formula is run by the Business Add-In (BAdI) Consistency Check for Recipe . A default implementation is supplied that performs the following checks and actions for the formula:

  • If the reaction indicator is selected in a formula, the system does not determine the consistency of the formula automatically. You must then set the formula as consistent manually. In this case, the system indicates below the pushbutton which user set the Consistent indicator and when.

  • The system checks whether at least one input and output item exist or whether the Input and Output formula view is empty.

  • If you are using the separate I/O Substances and I/O Materials views instead of the Input and Output formula view, the system checks whether the materials were generated from the substances or the substances were generated from the materials.

  • The system checks whether the calculation of the fields in the Input and Output formula view produces any errors.

  • The system checks whether the calculation of the formula views that you set in Customizing as relevant for the consistency check produces any errors (see "Prerequisites").

  • If the consistency check runs successfully, the system selects the Consistent indicator. If warnings occur during the check, you can decide whether the Consistent indicator should be selected. You find the warnings in the application log.

  • If the consistency check does not run successfully, the system does not select the Consistent indicator. The application log displays information relating to the reasons for this.

Whenever you or the system select the Consistent indicator, the system saves the data determined for the Input and Output formula view and the other consistency-relevant formula views in the database. This means that the data that was determined at the time of the consistency check is available for searches. If the system does not select the Consistent indicator because the consistency check was not successful or if you decide that the system should not select the Consistent indicator because of the warnings that occurred, the system does not save any data.

If a formula was set as consistent, you can only make limited changes to it. You cannot use the BAdI Consistency Check for Recipe to influence which data can then no longer be changed.

The system automatically selects the Consistent indicator for a synchronized recipe formula if all stage formulas are consistent.

Deselecting theConsistentIndicator

You can deselect the Consistent indicator manually. This has the following effects:

  • The system deselects the Consistent indicator in all subsequent formulas of the recipe that are set as reactions.

  • The system deletes the data that was saved in the database by the consistency check. This does not affect the data that was saved for the Input and Output view.

Activities

To check the consistency of a formula, proceed as follows:

  1. Load the formula whose consistency you want to check.

  2. Choose the Quantities formula view .

  3. Choose Consistency Check .

    The system runs the consistency check and selects the Consistent indicator in the Quantities formula view and above the formula views if the check is positive. In this way, you can see from every formula view whether the formula is consistent.

To select or deselect the Consistent indicator manually, in the Quantities formula view choose with the quick info text Select/Deselect Consistency .
