Quantities In the formula, the system displays important quantities and determines some of these quantities from the quantities of the inputs entered.

The quantities the system displays include the following:
The base quantity (best practical output) gives the usable output of the formula if factors have already been taken into account that can change the quantity of the total inputs. These factors are evaporation and absorption and other losses.
The target input quantity gives the quantity of all inputs.
For both quantities, you can only use units of measure in the dimension that corresponds to the dimension of the unit of measure that you specified in Customizing for
Recipe Management
in the IMG activity
Define and Assign Values to Environment Parameters
in the environment parameter FRML_DEF_UNIT_FLOAT_STORE.
You can enter the base quantity in the
Quantities
formula view. As the default value for the base unit of measure, the system uses the unit of measure that you specified in the environment parameter FRML_DEF_FRML_UNIT. You can enter the target input quantity only if you have entered the inputs in the
Input and Output
formula view in proportional units of measure, for example, in percent. If you have entered the inputs in absolute quantities, you cannot enter the target input quantity in the
Quantities
formula view. The system then determines the target input quantity from the total input quantities you entered in the
Input and Output
formula view. The system converts the values entered to the unit of measure of the target input quantity. For this conversion, it uses the alternative units of measure from the material master or the data from the property tree such as the density or the conversion factor for pieces.
In the dialog box that you can open above the formula views, you can only display quantities and not enter any.
When the system calculates percentage values for inputs and outputs in the
Input and Output
formula view, for example, after you select the
Volume Calculation
layout, it uses the following quantities as the basis for the calculation:
If the system has to calculate percentage values for the dimension that corresponds to the unit of the target input quantity, it uses the target input quantity as the basis. This means that if the target input quantity is entered in a unit of mass and the system must calculate a mass percentage, it uses the target input quantity as the basis.
If the system has to calculate percentage values for a dimension that does not correspond to the unit of the target input quantity, it uses the sum of the input quantities as the basis. This means that if the target input quantity is entered in a unit of mass and the system must calculate a volume percentage, it uses the sum of the input quantities as the basis.
Note
Note that this means that both the mass and the volume must be additive and thus be retained in the process.
