Background documentationObject Relationships: References and Assignments

In Project Issue and Change Management (CA-CPD-PCM), you can create relationships between change requests and issues in the following ways:

  • References

  • Assignments

References create stricter relationships than assignments.

Example Example

When you reference change request A, the system only allows referencing to one collective change request. However, you can assign A to multiple change requests or collective change requests.

End of the example.

Features

You create references and assignments for the purpose of documentation and the specification of relationships between related objects.

In Related Reference Objects, a referenced object is indicated by an x in the Reference column.

You are allowed to assign a change request to multiple collective change requests. You create this assignment on the change request screen, under Related Reference Objects.

You can only reference a change request to one collective change request. You create this reference on the Issue and Change Tracking screen, under Start of the navigation path Issue and Change List Next navigation step Result List End of the navigation path. You must select at least two change requests from the result list and then choose Start of the navigation path Create Object with References Next navigation step Collective Change Requests End of the navigation path.

You can also create a reference relationship when you create a reference change request from the issue screen (display), by choosing Change Request (Copy and Ref.).
