Documenting Changes to UsersLocate this document in the navigation structure

Whenever you change a user, document the reason for the change. This information is in addition to the user change log or security audit log.

Context

The security audit or user change logs record that the change events took place for auditing purposes. Why change events took place is not necessarily important for an auditor, but it can be important for a system administrator. The documentation for the user is a history of why events took place.

When you save a documentation entry the application includes the user ID of the user who made the documentation change and a time stamp.

The documentation cannot be edited or deleted from this application. A separate report deletes the user documentation.

This documentation is local, system-specific information and the system does not distribute the data in the central user administration landscape.

Procedure

  1. Open a user for editing in User Maintenance (transaction SU01).
  2. On the Documentation tab, choose (Create Entry).
  3. Enter the required data.
  4. Choose (Continue (Enter)).
  5. Save your entries.
