Creating a Snapshot of an AS Instance with SM51Locate this document in the navigation structure

Context

You want to create a snapshot of an AS instance in order to analyze an error situation more closely.

Procedure

  1. Open transaction SM51.
  2. Select the AS instance from which you want to create the snapshot.
  3. Choose the following menu path: Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Administration Next navigation step Snapshot  Next navigation step Create End of the navigation path.
    Tip You cannot enter a name or description when you create a snapshot in transaction SM50/SM51. If you want to do this, you have to create the snapshot direckly in SAP MMC.
  4. Choose Yes to confirm.

Results

A snapshot is created for the selected AS instance, and is saved in <DIR_GLOBAL>/sapcontrol/snapshots.
