Creating a Snapshot of an SAP System or Instance with SAP MMCLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

You want to create a snapshot of an instance in order to analyze an error situation more closely.

Procedure

  1. Open the SAP Management Console.
  2. Open the context menu of the SAP system or AS instance for which you want to create the snapshot.
  3. Follow path: Start of the navigation path All Tasks Next navigation step Create Snapshot End of the navigation path.
  4. In the dialog box choose between:
    • Local snapshot creation to save the created snapshot on your PC.
Caution Local snapshots already saved will be overwritten if you do not specify a new name or storage location.
    • Server side sapshot creation to save the created snapshot both locally and in <DIR_GLOBAL>/sapcontrol/snapshots.
Restriction If you create a snapshot for the whole SAP system, a local snapshot will not be created. This function is greyed out in the dialog box, and you cannot specify a storage location.
In SAP MMC you can view, save locally, or delete the server-side snapshots from the context menu Start of the navigation path All tasks Next navigation step Open sapshot End of the navigation path.

Results

The snapshot created on your local PC is saved in the path you specified. If you created a server-side snapshot, this is saved in <DIR_GLOBAL>/sapcontrol/snapshots.
