Accessing Objects via Transport ObjectsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Transport objects enable you to use transaction SE63 to call up and translate all of the texts in a transport entry directly, without having to know the object types or technical names of the objects to be translated.

If the transport entry only contains one object, the system opens it in the long text editor or short text editor (depending on the object type of the object) for you to process. If the transport entry contains more than one object, the system generates an on-the-fly worklist containing these objects. You can call up and translate the objects in this on-the-fly worklist.

Alternatively, you can call up an on-the-fly worklist on the basis of a transport request. For more information on how to do this, see On-The-Fly Translation and refer to the section about On-The-Fly Translation for Objects in a Transport Request.

Prerequisites

If you want to call up the objects in a transport entry directly for translation, you need to know the exact name of the transport entry.

Procedure

To call up the objects in a transport entry directly for translation, proceed as follows:

  1. Call up transaction SE63.

  2. Choose Start of the navigation path Translation Next navigation step ABAP Objects Next navigation step Transport Object End of the navigation path.

Alternatively, you can proceed as follows:

    1. Choose the Transport Object button in the application toolbar.
    2. Enter t in the command field and press Enter.

The Translation: Transport Object screen appears.

  3. Enter the transport entry whose texts you want to translate in the three Transport Object fields. For example, R3TR DTEL ZZ_ORDER.

  4. Check that the source and target languages are correct, and choose Edit.

    • If the transport entry only contains one object, the system opens it for translation in the appropriate editor.

    • If the transport entry contains more than one object, the system places them in an on-the-fly worklist. To display the translation status of the objects to be translated, place your cursor on the top node and choose Start of the navigation path Utilities Next navigation step Refresh Status End of the navigation path.

  5. Translate the objects in the usual way. For information on how to translate objects via a worklist, see Translating Objects via a Worklist.

Example

Developers ask you to translate all of the texts in the objects of transport entry R3TR PROG ZZ_CREATE_DOCUMENT. They cannot tell you which screens are associated with this program, but they need the German to English translation as soon as possible. Follow the procedure below:

  1. Call up transaction SE63.

  2. Choose Transport Object.
  3. Enter R3TR, PROG and ZZ_CREATE_DOCUMENT in the three Transport Object fields.

  4. Check that the source and target languages are correct, and choose Edit.

The system generates an on-the-fly worklist.

  5. To display the translation status of the objects to be translated, place your cursor on the top node and choose Start of the navigation path Utilities Next navigation step Refresh Status End of the navigation path.

If objects in the transport entry contain at least one line of text, you can double-click them to open them for translation in the appropriate editor.
