Process documentation Handling Messages  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

The Handling Messages IT process does not involve user actions. The Integration Server processes the incoming messages from the sender application and sends them to the corresponding receiver. Message processing can include integration processes while doing this. These integration processes are mandatory for the Business Process Management scenario.

Prerequisites

This process depends on the incoming message and the previously created configuration objects. These must be available in the Integration Directory and determine, for example, the receiver or receivers of a message.

Process Flow

The process runs in the usage types AS and PI:

       1.      System sends message (external system)

The external sender system sends a message.

       2.      System sends message (AS)

The SAP sender system sends a message.

       3.      System receives message (PI)

The Integration Server receives the message.

       4.      System determines receivers (PI)

The Integration Server determines the receivers of the message.

       5.      System executes mapping (PI)

The Integration Server executes the mapping agreed between the sender and receiver.

       6.      System sends message (PI).

The Integration Server sends the message.

       7.      System instantiates process (PI).

The Business Process Engine instantiates a process.

       8.      System performs correlation (PI)

The Business Process Engine performs the corresponding correlation.

   10.      System sends message (PI).

The Integration Server sends the message.

   11.      System receives message (AS)

The SAP receiver system receives the message.

   12.      System receives message (external system)

The external receiver system receives the message.

Result

The incoming message is processed and sent to the determined receiver or receivers.
