You want to process a request to change or create job documentation with Change Management. The Change Manager has approved a change request based on a job request, and created a change document. You can now process the change document.

The status levels of the change document lead you through the change process:

  • Created

The Change Manager ensures an error-free document that the system can forward to development.

  • In Process

Development makes the approved changes to the job documentation.

  • Test Preparation

The job administrator schedules the job in the current test system.

  • To Be Tested

The tester checks the required function with the new job scheduling in the test system.

  • Tested

    Test phase is complete.

  • Validation

Final test in the production system; the job administrator schedules the job in the production system.

  • Go-Live

The changes are active in the production system.

  • Completed

The changes have been made and the change procedure is completed.

Note Note

The status levels Test Preparation and To Be Tested are cyclical, this means they are repeated until the tests have been made in all quality assurance systems. The order of the systems is determined by the order of the system roles. The system offers all quality assurance systems for testing – from the source system to the end system.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

  • You have the role SAP_CM_DEVELOPER_COMP.

  • You have created a business partner with the role team member (BUP0003). You have entered the name of your user in the SAP Solution Manager system in the User Name field of the Member Data area on the Identification tab.

  • You have assigned your business partner as the processor of the change procedure.

  • In the Service Desk, you have selected the corresponding change document with the status Created (  SAP Easy Access   Change Documents   My Change Documents  ) with a double-click.

  • You are in change mode.

Procedure

  1. Ensure that your user appears in the Current Processor field.

The system specifies the subject Implementation/Maintenance: A job is changed or created. The system creates the job in the development system and copies it to the quality assurance system for testing. When it has been tested and validated, schedule the job in the production system.

  2. If the Change Manager did not assign any job documentation when it approved the change request, create new job documentation or assign existing job documentation to the change document.

For more information, see Creating Job Documentation and Assigning Job Documentation.

  3. Check whether all the required data and attributes of the change document are available, and complete the necessary entries. The document must be without errors.

  4. Edit the change document as follows:

    1. Choose   Actions (Actions)   Set Status to 'In Process’  .

    2. Save your entries.

    3. You can:

  5. To schedule the job in the current quality assurance system, choose   Actions (Actions)   Set Status to 'Test Preparation'   and save your entry.

  6. To test the changes in the current quality assurance system, choose   Actions (Actions)   Set Status to 'To be Tested'   and save your entry.

The change document has the status To be Tested. When changing the status, the job documentation parameters are copied from the development system to the quality assurance system.

Test the job and the scheduling parameters in the test system.

  7. When you have tested the job, choose   Actions (Actions)   Set Status to 'Tested'   and save your entry.

If there are more test systems, the next test system is selected and the status of the change document is reset to To be Tested. At this status change, the system copies the job documentation parameters from the tested test system to the next test system.

  8. To validate the job, choose   Actions (Actions)   Set Status to 'Validation'   and save your entry.

At this status change, the system copies the job settings from the test system to the production system.

  9. To set the change document to productive, choose   Actions (Actions)   Set Status to 'Productive'   and save your entry.

The job is scheduled in the productive system.

  10. To complete the change document, choose   Actions (Actions)   Set Status to 'In Completion'   and save your entry.

The change document has the status In Completion. You can no longer edit the change document.
