Activation Parameters for a Rule Strategies
and Rule Strategy Sequences
Activation parameters help you to determine a rule strategy or a rule strategy sequence.
You have created a rule strategy or a rule strategy sequence.
The technical scenario corresponds to the communication technique that triggered a rules-based availability check. The following table contains possible communication techniques and their hard-coded values in the ERP system.

These values are hard-coded in the ERP system and are copied from the calling application (Sales). In the requirements preselection, an I replaces the second letter of the predefined technical scenario. Other values can be copied from non-ERP systems.
The business transaction corresponds to the business context in which a rules-based availability check should be carried out. These values are determined by the calling application (Sales) when calling from the ERP System.

The business transaction is created in Sales Customizing in the ERP system. Choose Basic Functions → Availability Check and Transfer of Requirements → Availability Check → Rules-Based Availability Check → Define Business Transaction. You assign the business transaction to an order type (choose Rules-Based Availability Check → Assign Business Transaction to Sales Order Type).
The action type corresponds to the manipulation technique of the calling transaction. The following table contains possible manipulation techniques and their hard-coded values in the ERP system.

This value is determined by the calling application (Sales) when calling from the Online Transaction Processing System (OLTP system). This value is hard-coded in the ERP system. Values can be copied from non-ERP systems. You can use your own values when carrying out simulations on the SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO) server.
You assign activation parameters to a rule strategy or to a rule strategy sequence in Customizing for Supply Chain Management in the IMG activity Assign Rule Strategy or Rule Strategy Sequence. For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for SAP SCM under Advanced Planning and Optimization → Global Available-to-Promise (Global ATP) → Rules-Based Availability Check → Assign Rule Strategy or Rule Strategy Sequence.
