Rule Strategy
Sequence
Determines which rule strategies can be evaluated in a rules-based ATP check, and in which order.
A rule strategy sequence can contain inclusive and exclusive rule strategies.
Use this object to group rule strategies. The system evaluates rule strategies that are assigned to a rule strategy sequence during the same rules-based ATP check. The result of the evaluation is a substitution list with substitute location products.
The grouping and collective evaluation of inclusive and exclusive rule strategies can save many conditions and rules from being defined. This is especially the case if you define exceptions to exceptions (exclusive rules in exclusive rule strategies) from substitution lists, or alternatives to exceptions (alternative rules in exclusive rule strategies).
A rule strategy sequence can contain the following rule strategy types:
You can only define exclusive rule strategies together with inclusive rule strategies in a rule strategy sequence, since exclusive rule strategies do not provide substitution lists, they merely restrict the substitution lists of inclusive rule strategies.
The system evaluates exclusive rule strategies before inclusive rule strategies. The system evaluates all exclusive rule strategies at the same time. The system evaluates inclusive rule strategies according to their number.
Rule Strategy Sequence with Inclusive and Exclusive Rule Strategies

The locations, products and location products that are defined in the inclusive rules of inclusive rule strategies form substitution lists for the ATP check. The system removes the locations, products and location products that are defined in the inclusive rules of exclusive rule strategies from these substitution lists.
If you have defined a validity period for the substitution for those locations, products, or location products that are to be excluded, the system does not remove these locations, products, or location products from the substitution lists. The system merely adjusts the validity period for the substitution, since these products, locations or location products are only invalid as substitutions for a certain amount of time.
You define the settings for a rule strategy sequence in the Customizing of the rules-based ATP check. For more information about check instructions, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for SAP APO under Global Available-to-Promise (Global ATP) → Rules-Based Availability Check → Maintain Rule Strategy Sequence.
Before you can assign rule strategies to a rule strategy sequence, you need to define these rule strategies. For more information, see the IMG for SAP APO under Global Available-to-Promise (Global ATP) → Rules-Based Availability Check → Maintain Rule Strategy.
During a rules-based ATP check, the system determines a rule strategy sequence using the activation parameters from the OLTP-System. You have assigned the following inclusive rule strategies:
● LOKPROD_ERS
● PROD_ERS
The system first evaluates the rule strategy LOKPROD_ERS. If the substitutions that are stored in the rules of this rule strategy do not cover the requirement, the system evaluates the rule strategy PROD_ERS.
