Rule Strategy
The rule strategy determines the condition types and defines their evaluation sequence.
You have defined condition types in Customizing for the Global ATP check. For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM) under Advanced Planning and Optimization → Global Available-to-Promise (Global ATP) →Rule-Based → Maintain Condition Types.
There are the following rule strategy types:
● Inclusive rule strategy
An inclusive rule strategy uses the included rules to define the search domain (products and locations) of a rule-based ATP check. In these rules, products and locations are defined, which are transferred to the ATP check as product substitutions.
● Exclusive rule strategy
An exclusive rule strategy uses the included rules to define exclusions that restrict the search domain (products and locations) of inclusive rules strategies during an ATP check.
The rules of an exclusive rule strategy define products and locations that are saved in an exclusion list. During the evaluation of an inclusive rule strategy in the same rule-based ATP check, the exclusion list is applied to the found substitutions. In this way, all products and locations included in the exclusion list are deleted from the substitution list of the inclusive rule strategy.
You can use rule strategies (as well as rules) to restrict the number of substitutions and to define the entity of the substitutions. These settings overwrite the settings that you made in integrated rule maintenance for the number and entity of the substitutions.
For an example of how to restrict the number of substitutions using rules or rules strategies, see Restricting the Number of Substitutions: Example. For more information about restricting the number of substitutions using rules, see Restricting the Number of Substitutions.
