The KPI catalog is cloud-based, so to make full use of it from SAP Solution Manager applications (see Usage of KPI Catalog from Applications) it is necessary that the SAP Solution Manager system has access to the KPI catalog, meaning that it has access to the Internet.
However, in justified exceptions or extreme security requirements, it is also conceivable that you need to operate SAP Solution Manager offline, meaning without access to the Internet.
So that in such a case the applications that use the KPI catalog work in principle at least, you can download selected KPIs of the KPI catalog and upload the corresponding file to SAP Solution Manager manually. This then forms a local KPI catalog that you can use for the relevant applications. The corresponding procedure is explained in this section.
Within the activity below, you upload an archive to your SAP Solution Manager system. Such a file runs through the SAP virus scan interface (VSI). So that you are able to upload a file, you need to set up and configure the SAP virus scan interface. The configuration includes setting up a commercial third-party virus scan product. For more information, see the SAP virus scan interface documentation and SAP Note 786179.
After you have configured the SAP virus scan interface, you must activate the virus scan profile /SCET/GUI_UPLOAD
.
Note
For the documentation on the SAP virus scan interface, see SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/netweaver. Choose the desired release, scroll to the section , and search for the term "virus scan interface".
When, in an offline SAP Solution Manager, you want to select KPIs for further processing from an application that uses the KPI catalog for the first time, you are informed that the connection to the KPI catalog was not able to be established from this system. Instead, an alternative procedure is presented, which consists of the following steps:
From a different host that has a direct online connection, use the following URL to call the KPI catalog:
The standard KPI catalog is displayed; the difference is that a checkbox is shown in front of each KPI, which you can use to select the KPI. You can therefore select any number of KPIs from the catalog.
Note
If a KPI exists in various versions, you also have the option of explicitly selecting individual versions in the detail view of the KPI on the Versions
tab. IF you select a KPI for which multiple versions exist from the overview view, the displayed version is always selected; this is usually the most recent version.
After you have selected the desired KPIs from the catalog, choose the Download Selected KPIs
pushbutton at the top right-hand side of the overview view. The list of selected KPIs is displayed; you can delete individual KPIs if you do not require them.
Choose the Download
pushbutton and save the archive. Now make sure that this archive with the KPIs you require is in a storage location that you can access from your SAP Solution Manager system.
Now return to the application in your SAP Solution Manager in which you require the downloaded KPIs. The screen on which you are informed that no connection to the KPI catalog could be established also contains the Select File to Be Imported
pushbutton.
Choose this pushbutton and import your previously downloaded archive.
The KPIs are added to a local KPI catalog; this local catalog is displayed. You can now choose individual KPIs from this local catalog, which are transferred to the calling application.
Note
When the KPI catalog is called later on, the local catalog KPIs that you uploaded previously are displayed again. If you want to add additional KPIs to the local list, proceed as described above. The required pushbutton Select File to Be Imported
is displayed when you expand the section Use KPI Catalog in an Offline SAP Solution Manager System
.
You can also delete KPIs from the local list by editing the local list.
