Transport of Portal Objects
Transport is a service allowing the exchange of objects between application servers. It consists of two separate processes: export and import of objects.
The portal objects for transport are stored in packages.
Different transport scenarios are provided for the transport (export and import).
This section provides essential information about packaging portal content for transport and describes the tools in the portal used to import and export of content. For a detailed description of the transport process in its entirety, refer to How to Transport SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 Content located on SAP Developer Network at sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/howtoguides → SAP NetWeaver 2004 → Portal.
The Change and
Transport System (CTS), for non-ABAP transports, which offers the advantage of
controlling transports by scheduling and recording transport actions, serves
as an extension to the portal tools, as well as a wide range of other non-ABAP
transports. For more information about CTS, see
Transporting Non-ABAP
Objects in Change and Transport System.
Non-ABAP transports can also be done from the portal. For more information, see Export Using the Change and Transport System.
Developers can also transport portal content from the NetWeaver Development environment. For more information, see Adding Transport Packages to NWDI.
