Transport Packages and Transport
Objects
A package is a transportable archive containing the portal objects that can be exported or imported.
All objects of the Portal Content Directory (PCD) can be exported and imported (for example roles, worksets, pages, iViews). The permissions belonging to the objects can also be transported. See also Transporting Permissions.
There are two different methods for the export. See Packaging of Portal Transport Archives.
The packages and data for import and export as well as the log files for migrating content objects are stored in the relevant directories of the file system of the J2EE Engine. These directories are defined in the PCD (Portal Content Directory) configuration. See also Configuration for the Portal Content Directory.
All the relevant parameters for transporting and migrating objects must be defined when the PCD is configured. This includes information about the storage of:
· Import and export files
· Log files
· Temporary files to be transported or migrated

Within portal administration, you can check and view the configuration information of the PCD. In the administrator role choose System Administration → Support. The Support Desk is opened. Click on Portal Content Directory in the main area. Click on PCD Configuration in the test and configuration tools. The next screen shows all the parameters currently maintained for the PCD.
You can find the settings for the transport and migration in the sections Parameters for Portal Content Migration and Parameters for Transport Application.
The following table explains the portal-specific formats of the objects that can be transported:
