Launching the iView Wizard
The iView wizard in the portal allows you to create new iViews based on the following application technologies, which serve as the sources for the creation of the iViews and also serve as the first entry points to the iView wizard. The application technologies are as follows:
iView template: Create an iView from an existing iView template
Portal component: Create an iView from a portal component contained in a deployed portal archive (PAR file)
Web Dynpro Java application: Create one or more iViews from a Web Dynpro Java application or application variants
Web Dynpro ABAP application: Create an iView from a Web Dynpro ABAP application
The wizard provides step-by-step guidance, making sure that you provide all the information required to generate the iView. You can later edit the iView to modify the values that you entered.
This topic provides general information on how to launch the iView Wizard and to complete the first steps, which are generic to all iView types.
Launch the Portal Content Studio. For more information, see Launching the Portal Content Studio.
In the Portal Catalog, from the context menu of the folder in which you want to create the iView, choose .
The Application Technology step of the iView wizard appears.
Select the application technology that is to be the source type for the iView.
Note

Web Dynpro applications are not filtered according to portal permissions.
To base iViews on remote applications and iViews, you must have end-user permissions for them.

Additional Information |
|---|---|
iView Name |
The display name, the name that appears in the Portal Catalog, and in any form, dialog box, and window that displays a list of iViews. |
iView ID |
The identifier registered in the PCD. This name appears within the portal administrator environment. The iView ID may include alphanumeric characters, underscores (_), dashes (-), tilde (~) and parentheses. It may not include other special characters or spaces. The iView ID may include up to 100 characters. |
iView ID Prefix |
If you want all your iViews to follow a specific naming convention, making them easier to locate, you can add a uniform prefix to each system that you create. More information: Object IDs and Namespace Prefixes. |
Master Language |
The original language in which the properties of the object are generated and maintained. When you create content objects, you must decide on a master language that is neutral for the users in your environment, and to consider using that language consistently as your initial maintenance language. Typically, when creating content packages, for example assigning iViews to pages, you should use objects defined with the same master language. This property cannot be changed once the wizard creates the object. |
Description |
An optional description of the system. |
You have created an iView in the folder from which you launched the iView wizard.
The initial properties and property values defined in the new iView are a result of selections that you made in the wizard and properties inherited from its source.
By default, all new iViews are defined as non-template objects. To define an iView as a template, open it in the Property Editor for the iView and change the value of the Object is a Template property to Yes.
