Purpose

The Portal Content Studio provides a framework for creating iViews in a number of ways without having to write any code.

Process Flow

A content administrator can create an iView in the Portal Content Studio using:

·        iView Wizard: Provide step-by-step guidance to create iViews based on iView templates, portal components, or Web Dynpro applications deployed in the portal. For more information, see Launching the iView Wizard and General Information.

Each wizard is tailored to the type of iView. The type of iView depends on the information source providing the data to the iView at runtime.

Copy & paste actions: Using the Copy-Paste and Copy-Paste as Delta Link actions you can copy existing iViews and templates and create new instances without using a wizard. For more information, see Creating iView Instances Using Copy-Paste.

·        Content mirroring tool: Provides an alternative means for duplicating existing iViews (and other content) while maintaining a delta link between the original objects and their copies. See Content Mirroring.

Creating iViews Based on Remote Content

There are two ways in which your portal can display iViews that are based on remotely located content: by implementing a federated portal network (FPN) or by using the relevant iView wizard.

      Implementing a federated portal network

Using SAP NetWeaver you can establish a network of portals, which can communicate and share content with one another. We refer to this type of landscape as a federated portal network.

The federated portal network scenario offers various ways to share roles, worksets, pages, and iViews. Using tools provided by SAP NetWeaver Portal, you can create local iViews on your portal  that are based on NetWeaver iViews or WSRP-compliant portlets residing on a remote SAP NetWeaver Portal or a non-SAP portal, respectively.

¡        Web Dynpro Java application - create iViews from deployed Web Dynpro Java applications
