Background documentation Adding Producers  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Applicable to: remote role assignment, remote delta link, WSRP application sharing

To access content exposed by a content producer through WSRP, you need to add the producer to your NetWeaver consumer portal.

The portal provides a wizard that enables you to add:

NetWeaver producer portals (see Adding NetWeaver Producers)

Non-SAP producer portals (see Adding Non-SAP Producers)

Alternatively, a system administrator can add a producer using an XML script. For more information, see Using XML to Automate FPN Tasks.

When you add a producer instance, the portal creates a semantic object in the Portal Catalog, called a producer object. The producer object represents a connection instance from your portal to the producer. It contains the WSRP metadata needed to connect to the remote site.

In the Manage My Producers screen, you use this object to do the following:

Modify connection properties and metadata of the producer (see Editing Connection Properties to Producers).

Test the connection to the producer from your portal. (see Testing the Connection to a Producer)

Register your portal as a consumer on the producer (see Registering Your Consumer Portal)

View and manage the aliases of a producer instance. An alias is the name used to represent a producer in various portal tools (see Maintaining Producer Aliases)

Set permissions for your portal administrators (see Assigning Administrator Permissions to Producer Objects)

In remote delta link mode, you also use this object as an entry point in your Portal Catalog (in the Portal Content Studio) to view the remote contents of the NetWeaver producer. For more information, see Copying Remote Content to Your Consumer.

For information on removing a producer, see Removing Producers.
