Background documentation Maintaining Producer Aliases  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Applicable to: remote role assignment, remote delta links, WSRP application sharing

Use

Every producer object is identified by a unique alias. The producer alias is used in various user interfaces in the portal to identify the producer portal; for example the Registration Editor and the Identity Management tool.

When you consume content from a producer portal through remote delta links and WSRP application sharing, the corresponding content objects that are generated on the consumer portal include a reference of the producer alias which links the object to the respective producer portal. For example, in proxy-to-portlet iViews the alias is written to the iView's producerID property.

When you add a producer instance using the Producer Wizard (see Adding Producers), the portal automatically generates a primary alias for the producer based on its producer ID. If the alias is already used by another system in your portal, an underscore is added to the suffix of the initial alias until a unique one has been formed.

Note

Note the following:

You can create additional aliases for each producer instance and remove them. You cannot remove or rename the primary alias.

Support for additional aliases is currently limited to internal SAP projects. You should only create additional aliases when instructed to do so in the documentation or by an SAP support person.

Most user interfaces in the portal show only the primary alias of a producer; additional aliases are not listed.

This topic describes how to view and manage the aliases assigned to a producer.

Prerequisites

Access to the federated portal administration tools in the standard System Admin role on your portal.

Added the producer to your portal (see Adding Producers).

To view aliases, you must have at least administrator readpermission for the producer object. To add and remove aliases you must have at least administrator read-write permission.

Note

The producer may inherit the permission assigned to its parent folder in the Portal Catalog. For example, NetWeaver Content Producers or WSRP Content Producers.

Procedure

Launching the Producer Alias Editor

...

Do any of the following:

If you are currently editing the producer object in the Producer Editor or another secondary editor, choose Producer Aliases in the object editor toolbar.

If you are not editing producer object, then do the following:

                            a.      In the consumer portal, navigate to System Administration Federated Portal Myself as Content Consumer Manage My Producers.

                            b.      In the Portal Catalog, navigate to the producer object.

                            c.      In the context menu of the producer object, choose Open Producer Aliases.

Using the Producer Alias Editor

In the Producer Alias Editor you can view the aliases assigned to the producer object.

If you have administrator permission to edit the object, you can also add and remove aliases.

To add an alias, enter the name in the Alias Name box, and then click Add. The new alias is listed in the Defined Aliases table. An alias can be any name you choose, but it must be unique.

To delete an alias, choose the alias listed in the Defined Aliases table, and then click Remove.
