Procedure documentation Removing Producers  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Applicable to: remote role assignment, remote delta link, WSRP application sharing

Use

You can remove a producer instance on your consumer portal if you no longer need it.

Recommendation

To temporarily prevent a content consumer from using your content without deleting it, use the Block Access feature instead. For more information, see Enabling/Disabling Access to Registered Producers.

Prerequisites

You have access to the federated portal administration tools in the standard System Admin role on the consumer portal.

Procedure

...

       1.      In the portal, navigate to System Administration Federated Portal Myself as Content Consumer Manage My Producers.

       2.      In the Portal Catalog, navigate to the producer object you want to remove.

       3.      Right-click the producer object and choose Delete. A confirmation message is displayed.

       4.      Confirm the action.

Recommendation

If needed, a content administrator needs to locate and delete any remote-based content generated on your consumer, such as proxy-to-portlet iViews and remote delta link content.

Result

You have removed the selected producer instance from your portal.

When you remove a producer, all content consumed from the producer in the same registration scope remains on your portal, but becomes invalidated. All personalization settings are lost permanently. Content you have consumed through other instances of the same producer are not affected. If you add the same producer with the same alias, note the following:

Previous remote role assignments are not restored.

Existing content generated through WSRP application sharing is not restored.

Existing remote delta link content is restored only if the FPNProducerService service was deactivated on the consumer at the time the producer was removed. For more information about configuring this service, see Setting the Content Invalidation Policy for Remote Delta Links.

In addition, when you remove a producer, your portal automatically initiates an unregistration procedure with the producer portal.

Note

If your portal is unable to connect to the producer portal, the producer is removed; however the unregistration attempt is aborted. In this event, you will still be listed in their View My Consumers screen (on NetWeaver producers only). If possible, we recommend that you notify the producer and request they remove your consumer instance from their portal.
