 Operations

Definition

Operations are used for detailed planning of work.

In order to ensure that safety measures for work are performed at operation level, you must activate work clearance management for the operation. These operations are referred to as WCM-relevant operations.

Note Note

If you work with work permits , you must not activate work clearance management for the operation.

End of the note.

Use

When you have activated work clearance management at operation level in Customizing, the system sets the status WCM (Work Clearance Management) automatically for all operations of a WCM-relevant order. This is done up to the "release for execution" of the order (EXEC – Released for Execution).

You cannot perform the work for a WCM-relevant operation until you have issued the "release for execution" for the operation.

The following points are prerequisites for issuing the "release for execution" of a WCM-relevant operation:

  • The "release for execution" is issued for the WCM-relevant order.

  • If the assignment of work clearance documents is mandatory according to Customizing, the assignment must be done.

  • If the assignment of approval groups is mandatory according to Customizing, all the mandatory approvals must be assigned to an approval group.

    Note Note

Once the release for execution has been issued for a WCM-relevant operation, assignments can no longer be changed. Furthermore, the valuation of approval groups can no longer be changed.

    End of the note.

Structure

If you use approval groups, you must assign an approval group to each WCM-relevant operation and valuate the approval group. In other words, you must define explicitly for each application whether or not it is mandatory. As soon as you have valuated all approvals in an approval group, the system sets the status VAL (Valuated) for all WCM-relevant operations assigned to this approval group.

Note Note

Note the following assignment rules (Customizing):

  • A WCM-relevant operation can only be assigned to one approval group. (Assignment rule R6/R7)

  • An approval group can, however, be assigned to several WCM-relevant operations. (Assignment rule R6)

  • An approval group can only be assigned to one WCM-relevant operation. (Assignment rule R7)

The following figure illustrates the connection for assignment rule R6:

End of the note.

As well as the system statuses, which apply to all operations, the following system statuses can occur through the work clearance management for the operation:

ID

Name

Description

WCM

Work clearance management

Work clearance management is activated for the operation, that is, the operation is WCM-relevant.

  • The system automatically sets the status BLTC.

VAL

Valuated

All approvals of the assigned approval group are valuated.

  • This status cannot be revoked manually.

EXEC

Released for execution

You have issued the "release for execution" for the WCM-relevant operation, that is, the work can start.

  • This status cannot be revoked manually.

WOCO

Work completed

The work for the WCM-relevant operation is completed.

  • This status cannot be revoked.

  • The system automatically revokes the statuses EXEC and BLTC.

BLTC

Block technical completion

The technical completion of the WCM-relevant operation is not possible.
