  Functions for the Reportable Item Code

Use

The following display and editing options are available for the reportable item code (RIC).

Features

The application Reportable Item Code Data , with the transactions /ISDFPS/RIC1 (edit mode) and /ISDFPS/RIC2 (display mode), is available for displaying and editing RIC data.

Activities

Display

You can display RIC data that already exists in the system in a tree structure, or search for particular data.

  1. Call up the application Reportable Item Code Data .

  2. You can now:

    • Search for an entry via the RIC field

    • Search for an entry from the structure in the RIC Hierarchy

    • Select an entry in the RIC Hierarchy and display this and all lower-level entries in the table next to the hierarchy structure.

Import

You can import RIC data using standardized text files from the NATO Consultation, Command and Control Agency (NC3A). You can choose between various import methods.

  1. Call up the application Reportable Item Code Data in edit mode.

  2. Choose Import.

  3. Enter the storage area of the text file and select one of the import methods offered.

    • Insert : Data records that are flagged for insertion in the text file are inserted. You also specify how the system should react if records already exist.

    • Change : Data records that are flagged for changing in the text file are changed.

    • Delete : Data records that are flagged for deletion in the text file are deleted.

      If necessary, choose Simulate Import to simulate an import and generate a test log.

  4. To import the data, choose Continue .

Export

You can export the RIC data that exists in the system and choose between various export methods. The generated export file contains a flag that indicates the version of the program on which the export is based, and the status that the exported data represents (last update, manual changes made in the meantime).

  1. Call up the application Reportable Item Code Data in edit mode.

  2. Choose Export.

  3. Select one of the export methods offered.

  4. Choose Continue.

Import and export processes are logged. The log is displayed once the import or export has finished.

Manual changes

You can use the application Reportable Item Code Data to manually:

  • Delete data records that already exist in the system

    To do so, select the entry you want to delete and choose Delete .

  • Change descriptions and short descriptions of six-character data records that already exist in the system

    To do so, enter the required text in the relevant table field and then save your changes.

  • Create new data records

    To do so, choose Create and enter the required data. Confirm your entries and then save your changes.

Assignments

You assign an RIC to a material planning object , reference force element , or job on the relevant object tab page.
