Function documentationInbound Interface for Substitution Assignments

With this interface, you can import the following data of a substitution assignment to SAP F&R:

  • Original product

  • Substitute product

  • Substitution control with the following types:

    • Follow-up product, time-controlled

    • Follow-up product, event-controlled

    • Replacement product, event-controlled

For more information on the compatibility of the substitution controls of imported substitution assignments, see System Behavior on Import of Substitution Assignments.

  • Location and location type

    Note Note

If the substitution assignment is valid globally, the system SAP Retail system (the master data retaining system) does not transfer a location or location type.

    End of the note.
  • Start and end of the switchover period

  • Conversion factor

The system imports a conversion factor for conversion of the base units of measure for each of the original and substitution products; the system uses in both cases as default the value 1 and takes account of the conversion factor, for example, when merging the consumption data.

  • Substitution merge profile

If the field location is filled on import of a new (not yet existent in SAP F&R) substitution assignment and no substitution merge profile is specified, the system allocates to the substitution assignment that substitution merge profile that is flagged as the default profile for the location type. The system uses the global default profile for substitution assignments without location. For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) of Forecasting and Replenishment under Start of the navigation path Substitution Products Next navigation step Substitution Merge Profiles End of the navigation path.

  • Consumption reference factor

On import of a new assignment, the system uses as default the value 1.

Note Note

If you import substitution assignments from a linked SAP Retail system, these contain no substitution merge profile and no consumption reference factor.

End of the note.

Integration

  • SAP F&R does not plan location products for which a lock on product substitution is set in the master data. This applies to the automatic (FRP run) and manual replenishment planning (using the Planning Workbench or Product Workbench).

  • Using a Business Add-In (BAdI) (/FRE/IF_CON_BADI_029), you can change the imported data customer-specifically. For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Forecasting and Replenishment under Start of the navigation path Interfaces Next navigation step Enhancements Using Business Add-Ins Next navigation step BAdI: Enrichment of Substitution Assignments End of the navigation path.

  • SAP F&R evaluates the information that a substitution assignment has been deleted in the master data retaining system.

Prerequisites

You carry out interface processing (report /FRE/BIF_INB01) and set the indicator for substitution assignments under selections for product/target location.

Features

In inbound processing, the system carries out the following checks:

  • The master data on the products, locations, and location products contained in the substitution assignment exists in SAP F&R.

If the field location is filled, the system checks if the location product (that results from the location and the original or substitute product) exists in the master data.

  • At any time, no more than one replacement product and no more than one follow-up product per storage level (location or global level) is assigned to an original product.

    Note Note

In the case of a follow-up product assignment, the system performs the other checks as described below.

    End of the note.
  • Import of a follow-up product assignment with location

If now switchover has yet occurred for the imported substitution assignment (which means no switchover or switch back information exists) and SAP F&R plans both the original and the follow-up product, the system displays the following lock behavior:

    • It sets a lock indicator in the master data for the location product that contains the follow-up product.

    • If a lock indicator is set in the master data of the location product for the original product, the system removes this.

  • Import of a follow-up product assignment without location (global assignment)

The system determines for the original product of the substitution assignment all location product combinations that contain the original product (from the imported global substitution assignment) as a product.

For each location product found, the system checks if there is a location-specific substitution assignment with the same original product. If no location-specific substitution assignment exists in SAP F&R, the system uses the global assignment for this location and carries out the lock behavior described above.

For more information, see System Behavior on Import of Substitution Assignments (example).

  • On the import of a deletion record for a substitution assignment, the system checks if switchover or switch back information exists for this:

    • If no switchover or switch back information exists, the system deletes the substitution assignment directly.

    • If switchover or switch back information exists, the system sets a deletion flag for the substitution assignment.

SAP F&R can delete a (location-specific) substitution assignment as soon as the deletion program for switchover information has deleted the related switchover information. For more information, see Deleting Obsolete Switchover Information.

Activities

  1. The integrated sending system starts the transfer and calls appropriate function module for the interface in SAP F&R. For more information, see the Overview of the Interfaces in SAP F&R.

  2. You then post the data in SAP F&R.

    Note Note

The system can only post the substitution assignment if the check criteria have been fulfilled; otherwise it flags the assignment as erroneous and issues an exception.

    End of the note.
