The following configuration steps are aimed at Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) administrators who want to set up the ILM solution from SAP.

Before you begin you should be familiar with the concepts of ILM from SAP and its three cornerstones. For more information see:

To be able to follow these configuration steps you need to have an SAP Application Server (AS) ABAP and AS Java, 7.0 Enhancement Pack 1 installed, which can be implemented either as one dual-stack system or two standalone servers.

Features

The following components are the principal configuration-relevant constituents of ILM from SAP:

  • XML Data Archiving Service (XML DAS): An AS Java application which processes the incoming archiving requests and manages the archives.

  • User Interfaces:

    • XML DAS Administration is available as a WebDynpro for Java.

    • On the ABAP side the settings are made in archive administration (transaction SARA).
